GRADUATION INFORMATION

GRADUATION TICKETS

Each graduate will receive 5 auditorium tickets. Families will be able to request 2 cafeteria tickets for extra seating through a Google Form that was emailed to Senior parents in January (deadline to turn in form is January 30th). Graduation will be live-streamed in the cafeteria and is also available online for those unable to attend. The link for the live stream will be available on the ARGS website.

Graduates will receive their tickets at graduation practice. Requests for extra tickets must be made through the Google form that was emailed in January. Extra tickets are not guaranteed because of our limited seating. All available tickets will be distributed by lottery; those families who will receive 2 extra tickets will be notified directly April.

Children over the age of 2 years old must have a ticket. Children under 2 years old may sit on a lap.

PARKING

Parking Passes

Graduates will receive 1 parking pass for the ARGS parking lot for their family. Carpooling is recommended. For graduation attendees without a parking pass, additional spaces are available at the Pittman Building. Graduates driving separately from their families must park at the Pittman Building or in the bus loop on the day of the ceremony.

Handicapped Parking Passes and Handicapped Seating

Please request handicapped parking passes and special seating requests via the previously referenced Google Form where you request extra tickets that was sent in January.

DIPLOMAS

The diploma is a legal document and must have your legal name. Please see Ms. Jackson with any concerns about the name that will appear on your diploma.

PHOTOS

Professional photographers from Candid Color will be taking pictures.

REGALIA

Graduates must wear a cap and gown to participate in graduation. You will not be allowed to walk without proper attire. If you have financial difficulty purchasing your cap and gown package, please let Ms. Jackson know as soon as possible.

MORTARBOARDS

You may decorate your graduation cap. Please refer to the guidelines below. You must print and turn in a signed contract no later than May 15th to participate in decorating your cap.

GRADUATION PRACTICE

All graduating students must attend graduation practice on Tuesday, May 26th at ARGS from 1-3 p.m. Students must be on time and in their seats at 1 p.m. Failure to comply with this request may result in you not participating in the graduation ceremony.

All graduating students must also attend the graduation dress rehearsal on Thursday, May 28th at ARGS from 1-3p.m. A Senior class picture will be taken that day. At this time, your mortarboard design (if you are participating) will be checked, and if it does not meet the guidelines, you will be asked to choose something more appropriate for graduation. All students should make sure they wear the shoes they intend to wear the day of graduation so that we can practice processing.

FEES AND BOOKS

All students must turn in their books AND pay all fees by noon on May 28th. Graduation tickets will be withheld until all fees are paid.

SENIOR PICNIC

The Senior picnic will be held in the ARGS courtyard on May 26th from 4-6 pm.

GRADUATION DAY

Graduates arrive at 8:00 a.m.

Seating for guests starts at 9:30 a.m. All guests must have a ticket in hand to enter. No guests will be seated in the auditorium after the ceremony begins.

MORTARBOARD DECORATING GUIDELINES

Please take into consideration the following rules when decorating your graduation cap. Decoration of your graduation cap is not required. Graduation caps will be reviewed and approved in advance of the ceremony. Failure to follow these rules will result in the removal of the cap before the ceremony.

Expectations:

❏ Designs must not be inappropriate or privilege will be taken away.

❏ No objects such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, flowers, or any 3D object may rest on the cap.

❏ ALL decorations MUST lay FLAT on the cap.

❏ Nothing can hang down from any side of the cap.

❏ Your cap CANNOT make noise. 

Suggested Cap Designs May Include:

❏ Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend

❏ Recognize your post-secondary plans (college, trade school, military)

❏ Recognize your high school activities (ex. sports, clubs, co-curricular activities)

❏ Your graduation year

❏ An inspirational message

❏ Leave it blank

 

Decoration of your graduation cap is optional. Must also be school appropriate and cannot include:

❏ Offensive language, flags, derogatory names or statements

❏ Contain any advertisement, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that: refer to drugs or controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, or weapons or be of a sexual nature

❏ Nicknames (unless approved)

❏ Boyfriend/girlfriend name

❏ Political affiliation

❏ Threaten the safety or welfare of any person

 

Students - we highly suggest you trace your cap onto cardboard and decorate the cardboard. In case you make a mistake, you can start over with a new piece of cardboard. We will not furnish new caps if you damage yours when decorating. After you decorate it, stick it to your cap with double-sided tape or Velcro stickers. Administration will reserve the right to disallow anything that is not considered appropriate for the commencement ceremony.

 

My graduation cap will include one of the following designs:

                                        ❏ I understand that my cap decorations on my actual mortar must match exactly the design on the      contract, including but not limited to, color, design, size/proportions.

                                        ❏ Any changes made after approval will result in my cap being taken up and a loaner graduation cap given for the ceremony. I am responsible for returning the loaner cap at the end of the ceremony.I agree with the design submitted for the ceremony.

                                        ❏ I also understand that designs submitted after May 15th will not be permitted.
