On February 9th, there were district chorus concerts held at Meadowbrook High School. They were free and open to the public starting at 2:00, continuing from 2:30 to 3:00pm. There was a professional audio recording of the event which could be ordered on site. The event was led by the Virginia Choral Directors Association, which is affiliated with the National Association for Music Education. The students who attended are the following:

Ryan Elliott (Chesterfield) Freshman,
Mikaela Minor (Prince George) Sophomore,
Nicole Coppola (Chesterfield) Sophomore,
Kayla Gonzalez (Chesterfield) Sophomore,
Xion Johnson (Petersburg) Senior,
William Kessler (Prince George) Senior,
Tyshaun Brewer (Richmond) Senior,
Keilee Perez-Diggs (Hopewell) Senior,
Marian Woodington (Chesterfield) Senior,
Ruth Wilson (Petersburg) Senior,
Kaiya Keckler (Colonial Heights) Senior.

“It was a very fun learning experience,” Kayla Gonzalez (Chesterfield) said. “We got to meet new people while we were there…Overall it was very enjoyable.”

District Chorus is an annual honor choir event, and all the students attending earned a spot after auditioning in November. A few auditioned at the state level on February 7th, the results of which were in on the 9th. Marian Woodington (Chesterfield), for the second year in a row, advanced to the All-Virginia Chorus! She’ll be representing District III and ARGS at the state level.
