“Age of Aquarius” Comes To Life
ARGS Premieres HAIR!
Straight from the 2009 Broadway Revival and the 2010-11 National Tour, The Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology will be presenting HAIR, the American Tribal Love-Rock Musical with book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. Hair tells the story of the “tribe”, a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. A product of the hippie counter-culture of the 1960s, several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement.
Performances of HAIR are scheduled for November 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7pm as well as November 11 and 18 at 2pm in the James L. Ruffa Performing Arts Center located at 512 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803. Tickets are $8 adults – $4 students/seniors (60+) if paid in advance by Wednesday, November 7 (general seating) or $10 adults – $5 students/seniors (60+) at the door. Group rates are also available.
